FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason University wrestling team fell 26-10to American in the team's first home dual of the season at the Recreation and Athletic Complex on Thursday evening.

American held a slim 10-7 halftime lead but was able to win four of the final matches of the night to earn the victory. Wins from Mason in the dual came from sophomore Sahid Kargbo, redshirt sophomore Greg Flournoy and redhshirt junior Ryan Hembury. Each wrestler improved his dual record to 6-4 this season.

Kargbo was able to take control of his 141lb. match early, scoring three takedowns in the first period to help a 9-2 advantage after the round. Three more takedowns over Tom Page in the final two periods lead Kargbo to the 16-4 major decision victory, his second of the kind this season.

Flournoy also used an early takedown to give himself a 2-0 advantage in his 157lb. match and earned two more along with an escape for the 7-3 win over John Boyle. Hembury was tied 2-2 with American's Jason Grimes after the second period and was able to score a point on an escape in the opening seconds of the third period, hanging on for the 3-2 win.

Redshirt sophomore Vincent Rodriguez also had a near victory in the match at 133lbs. Down 3-2 late in the third period, Rodriguez earned a late point with 15 seconds remaining to even the score, however American's Esteban Gomez-Rivera came with the 4-3 victory on advantage time.

The Patriots will travel for two tournaments over the holiday break for their next competition, traveling to Loch Haven, PA. for the 2013 Cradle Gear Invitational on December 29 and to Evanston, Ill. for the prestigious Ken Kraft Midlands Championships from Sunday, December 29 to Monday, December 30.
