FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason University wrestling team (4-5) will host its first home meet of the season on Thursday, December 19 as American (0-2) travels to Fairfax for a 7 p.m. match at the Recreation and Athletic Complex.
The Patriots come into Thursday's meet after wrestling at the Grapple at the Garden on December 1, where they fell to Rutgers (29-10) and Drexel (22-15). Mason has earned dual wins over Washington and Lee, Anderson University, Davidson and Sacred Heart so far this season.
Redshirt sophomore Greg Flournoy, junior Ryan Hembury, sophomore Sahid Kargbo and redshirt junior Jake Kettler each lead the Patriots with five dual wins this season. Kettler is also tied for the team lead of three falls with freshman Bill Prochniewski.
American is 0-2 in dual meets this season, falling on the road to Virginia Tech 30-9 and at home to Wisconsin, 31-6. Redshirt sophomore David Terao and redshirt senior Daniel Mitchell each rank ninth in the most recent Amatuer Wrestling News Division 1 College Wrestling Rankings at 125lbs. and 197lbs., respectively. Mitchell leads the Eagles with 12 total wins this season, followed by Terao with 11.
2013-14 team posters and 2013 NWCA All-Star Classic programs will be given out to fans in attendance at Thursday's meet. Admission is free of charge.
