FAIRFAX, Va. - Senior Fernando Rubio was named the Atlantic 10 Men's Swimming & Diving Performer of the Week as announced on Tuesday afternoon.

The Chester, Va., recorded an NCAA “B” standard time and set a meet record in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 3:54.16 at this past weekend's Patriot Invitational. His performance in 400-yard IM was one of two first-place finishes along with the 800-yard freestyle relay (6:46.07).

Rubio also recorded second-place finishes in both the 200-yard breaststroke (2:05.40) and the 200-yard IM (1:50.71) en route to helping the men's team capture their first ever Patriot Invitational title.

U.S. Winter National Championships are up next on the schedule for the swimming & diving team pending qualification, running from Thursday, December 5 to Saturday, December 7 in Knoxville, Tenn.
