FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason wrestling team earned its first dual meet victory of the season with a 47-0 shutout over Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va. on Saturday.
All 10 wrestlers for Mason won their match in the dual. Ryan Hunsberger defeated Washington and Lee's Andrew Donchez in the 149lb. match with a pin 54 seconds into the match. Ryan Forrest (16-0), Ryan Hembury (16-1) and Matt Meadows (16-0) each won by technical fall and Sahid Kargbo defeated Michael Rodgers 14-3 to put Mason up 16-0 and picked up his first individual dual victory of the season. The Patriots also sent seven wrestlers to compete in the Navy Classic in Annapolis, Md. Ibrahim Bunduka, Shohei Takagi, Zachary Smith and David Chenevey were among the wrestlers to advance to the second round before being eliminated.
The Mason wrestling team continues competition this weekend, traveling to Davidson, N.C. for a quad meet with Davidson, Anderson University and nationally ranked Ohio State University.
