POWELLS POINT, NC—The Mason golf team has an uphill battle ahead of them after the first of three rounds is in the books at the ODU/Outerbanks Collegiate which is being held at the Kilmarlic Golf Course.

Mason is in 17th place with a 315 in the 18 team tournament on the par 71, 6,550 yard course. Elon leads with a 286, three strokes ahead of Radford at 289, while ODU, Marshall and Hartford are four back at 290 with VCU and Maryland tied for sixth at 294.

 Senior Kevin Yerks and Zack Lauzon lead the Patriots after each shooting a six-over par 77. Bryan Giles carded a 80 and Mark Folkwein an 81 to round out Mason's scoring.

The second round will be played Monday and the final round on Tuesday. First tee time is 8:30 AM.
