GoMason.com is once again going out of the pool to catch up with student athletes on the men's and women's swimming and diving teams. We first interviewed freshman swimmer Brandon Nestor, who helped the men's 400-yard medley relay team earn a first place finish at last week's Potomac Relay Invitational.
GoMason.com: What made you choose to attend George Mason University?
Brandon: I really loved it here on my recruiting trip; the entire team was great! Also the academics, I want to major in Finance. The opportunity to swim for Peter and Damian also influenced me.
GoMason.com: What is the best part about swimming for George Mason?
Brandon: Being with my teammates.
GoMason.com: What are your goals for the upcoming season?
Brandon: Do my part, in terms of scoring enough points, to win the Atlantic-10; it would be great to send our seniors out with a championship.
GoMason.com: What kind of music do you listen to before a race?
Brandon: I can listen to almost anything, from The Black Keys to Avicii.
GoMason.com: Where do you find your inspiration to swim?
Brandon: Working towards achieving my goals always keeps me going.
GoMason.com: What activities do you like to do outside of the pool?
Brandon: Play FIFA, hang out with friends… nothing too special!
GoMason.com: How do you stay in shape during the offseason?
Brandon: Well there isn't really on offseason in swimming, I still practice all year round!
GoMason.com: What is your favorite/least favorite workout to do in practice?
Brandon: Favorite thing in a practice is a get-out-swim; when you do your race event fast and you have to beat a certain time to get out of practice. Least favorite thing is doing long distance stuff, like doing 1000's over and over again!
