FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason softball team was recognized as a 2012-2013 National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Academic Team and 10 individual students were named 2012-2013 Division 1 All-America Scholar-Athletes by the NFCA on Monday. 

As a team, Mason softball ranked 26th in the country with an overall team GPA of 3.39 during the 2012-2013 academic school year. The 10 individual students named All-America Scholar-Athletes each achieved a 3.50 grade point average or higher during the 2012-2013 year as well. Current members of the team who were crowned scholar-athletes include Christina Gabriele, Angela Maioran, Mary O'Connor, Emily Simon and Sarah Solano.

Additionally, 20 student athletes on the 2012-2013 Mason softball team earned CAA Commissioner's Academic Awards for their performances in the classroom last academic year. The award recognizes student athletes who maintained a cumulative or semester grade point average of 3.2 or higher.
