opener. The first edition of Rookie Profiles features Breanna Boyd and Julia
Czarnecki. Boyd is a native of Virginia Beach, Va. and was the MVP of the
Kempsville High School softball team her senior year. Czarnecki is a native of

GoMason.com:
What
is your favorite part about George Mason University, so far?
Czarnecki:
The
diversity and the school spirit- Patriot Nation everywhere. There's always a
big crowd at basketball games and even soccer games.
Boyd:
How
pretty the campus looks in the fall with all the different colored leaves.
GoMason.com:
Why
did you choose George Mason University?
Czarnecki:
I
wanted a different environment and I wanted a place where the weather and
people were different than those of the west coast. Plus, there are a lot of
opportunities in this area.
Boyd:
The
campus and the kinesiology program were exactly what I was looking for and it
is close enough to home but also far enough.
GoMason.com:
How
did you get into softball?
Czarnecki:
I
began playing at five years old, it was the very first sport I got involved
with. My brother and I started playing in a league where the coaches pitched to
you and it just became a part of my life like second nature.
Boyd:
My
dad had me hitting off a tee when I was four.
GoMason.com:
What
are your goals this season?
Czarnecki:
Personally,
I would like to improve my offensive game at the plate to create havoc and I
want to help my team make it to the CAA Championship.
Boyd:
To
get stronger and smarter about the game.
GoMason.com:
If
you could go back in time throughout history, what would you change and why?
Boyd:
I
would have never created a two party system so we wouldn't have all this
political stalemate and drama.
GoMason.com:
If
you could meet any celebrity dead or alive, who would it be and why?
Boyd:
Trevor
Hall, because he started out with a small following that has grown; his music
changed my attitude towards life.
Czarnecki:
Babe
Zaharlas, she was an American athlete in the early 1900's who succeeded in
every sport she participated in and showed men as well as women that women are
capable of being just as athletic as men.
