Notes: The George Mason men's and women's track and field teams will begin the 2013 indoor season on Saturday when they host the Father Diamond Invitational at the Field House. The first field event begins at 10 a.m. and the first track event is at noon.

"We're excited to finally get the season started," said Head Coach Andrew Gerard. "Although we'll have a limited crew out there, with people coming from a lot of different directions, it is always exciting to get started on a new year with all of the possibilities still in front of us.  I've been doing this for 20+ years now and it never gets old! The first meet of the year always brings a combination of sense of the promise for the season ahead, jitters to see that everyone gets going on the right foot and adrenaline rush to be competing again."

"On the men's side, we had a great year last year but graduated some key performers so this year features a new mix - a nice blend of older, experienced guys and some impressive newcomers," continued Gerard. "While on the women's side, we return a large majority of our squad, but similarly have a very successful incoming class that we expect will make a significant impact."

At this meet, everything lies ahead of us and that is always exciting!"

The Patriots are coming off a terrific 2012 campaign in which the men captured their third-consecutive CAA outdoor title while the women finished in fourth place. The men also claimed the IC4A outdoor team title, while the combined squads sent 13 qualifiers to the NCAA East Regionals and three individuals and two relays to the NCAA Outdoor Championships. During the indoor season, several athletes advanced to the IC4A/ECAC Indoor championships, while two individuals from the men's team competed at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
