WASHINGTON, D.C. - The George Mason
men's swimming team took first place at the Potomac Relays on Friday to open
the season, as the women took third place overall.
The men repeated their win from last year by placing first in five of the nine
relays. Mason won the 200 Freestyle relay, 500 Freestyle relay, 1000 Freestyle
relay, 300 Butterfly relay, and the 200 Medley relay for an overall score of
332 points. The Patriot men had a strong and consistent showing in all of the
relays and saw contributions from many individuals.
The women placed third with an overall score of 304 points and winning two of
their relays, the 300 Backstroke relay and the 200 Medley relay. Junior Paige
Impink was a member of each of the first place relay teams as well as the
second place win in the 400 Medley relay.
American University, Georgetown (women), George Washington, Mount St. Mary's
(women) and the University of Mary Washington also competed in the meet.
The men's and women's teams will head back to the pool when they travel to
Baltimore, Md. to take on Navy and Loyola on Saturday, October 6.
