RICHMOND,
Va. (September 26, 2012) – George
Mason's Kevin Yerks and William & Mary's Jeremy Wells earned CAA Men's Golfers of the Week honors after
their strong finishes in their respective tournaments.
Yerks
earned a fourth place finish at the VCU Shootout held at the Hermitage
Country Club Manakin in Manakin-Sabot, Va. The junior shot 70-72-74—216
(E) to lead the Patriots to a tie for ninth place with former CAA golf
member Old Dominion. Yerks led the field in birdies made with 14. He
had the most birdies that the next three competitors who had 11 each,
including individual medalist Sean Bosdosh from University of Maryland. Former CAA member VCU hosted the event, while James Madison also
competed in the event.
Wells
took fourth place at the Joe Agee Invitational after shooting 212 (-1)
on the par 71, 6,837-yard Williamsburg Club course in Williamsburg, Va.
The senior shot rounds of 69-72-71 and guided the Tribe to a third place
team finish. Wells' third round of 71 (E) was one of only four in the
entire field to shoot par or better in the third round. Delaware, which
was led by Braden Shattuck (72-71-72—215/5th), also participated in the event and finished in fourth place.
