The Patriots men's golf team finished the third and final round at the VCU Shootout with a 315 for a three-round 922 and ninth-place finish. Mason finished tied with UNCG and Old Dominion.
Mason's Kevin Yerks finished fourth overall individually after shooting even par in three rounds (70-72-74=216). He led the field in birdies made with 14, including four today. He had three more birdies than the next three competitors who had 11 each, including individual medalist Sean Bosdosh from University of Maryland. Yerks double-bogeyed the par 4 ninth hole and had four bogeys in the final round.
Bryan Giles was the next highest Patriot golfer, finishing tied for 33rd. He was five over par going into the final round, but finished with a 81 today.
The Patriots will return home to host the Patriot Intercollegiate this weekend at Laurel Hills Golf Club.
