The Mason men's golf team finished two rounds today in the VCU Shootout and are in eighth place going into the final round tomorrow. Wichita State currently leads the 11-team tournament played at the Hermitage Country Club in Manakin-Sabot, Va.
Junior Kevin Yerks leads the Patriots and is tied for second overall after carding a two-under par 142 (70-72) at the 6,955 course. He and three other players are one stroke behind leader Sean Bosdosh from the University of Maryland. Mason's Bryan Giles is tied for 22nd after shooting a 149 (74-75).
The Patriots shot a team 607 (304-303) just one stroke behind Old Dominion and seven strokes off Richmond. The Shockers lead with a two-round 580 (+4), Virginia Tech is second 587 (+11) and Iowa State third after carding a 591 (+15).
The players will tee off beginning at 8:45 am Tuesday for the final round.
