FAIRFAX, Va. - The
George Mason men's and women's cross country teams will head back to the course
this Saturday, September 15, for the 54th annual William and Mary
Invitational. The race will be held at the Eastern State course in
Williamsburg, Va. The men's race is scheduled to start at 9:45 a.m., with the
women's race beginning at 10:45 a.m.
The teams are coming off fourth-place finishes at the Spider
Alumni Open on Sept. 1.
This weekend will mark the first time this season that the
men compete in an 8K, the same distance as the CAA championship race. The
women, who will run a 6k at the conference championship, will run a 5k this
weekend.
The Eastern State course is the venue for the 2012 Cross Country
CAA Championships as well, giving the Patriots the chance to experience the
course before they compete on it in October.
Defending CAA men's champion and women's runner-up William
and Mary will host the race that includes UNC Wilmington, Virginia Commonwealth
University, Christopher Newport University, Norfolk State and the University of
Richmond.
