EUGENE, Ore. - George Mason track and field athlete David
Verburg competed in the finals of the 400m at the Olympic Team Trials on Sunday
evening, but did not advance to the 2012 Olympics to be held later this summer
in London.
Verburg, who started the race in lane one, crossed the
finish line in a time of 45.36 to finish in seventh place. With only the top
three finishers advancing, the US will be represented by LaShawn Merrit
(44.12), Tony McQuay (44.49) and Bryshon Nellum (44.80) in the event.
Verburg will return to the track in two weeks, competing at the North
American, Central American and Caribbean (NACAC) U-23 Championships, held July
6-8 in Guanajuato, Mexico.
