Matt Chrabot to compete in Triathlon Olympic Trials.
On May 12, Matt Chrabot will be racing against more than just the
clock; he will be racing against his fellow country-men and top talent from across
the globe as he continues to chase his Olympic dream. The top American to cross
the line at the ITU World Triathlon San Diego event will automatically earn a
spot on Team U.S.A. for this summer's Olympic Games. A second slot will be
awarded to the next U.S. finisher, if he places within the top nine overall.
Because
Saturday's race will serve as the final Olympic qualifying event for many
countries, it has attracted a talent pool that is deeper and arguably more
competitive than what will be seen this summer in London. This event will
showcase seventy of the best triathletes in the world, most of whom Matt has
already competed against throughout his career. In similarly competitive
fields, Matt has earned several top-10 finishes and he is currently ranked
12th in the world (and top American) in the ITU World Triathlon Series. He will
arrive at the start line in San Diego ready to win the event and solidify his
spot on the U.S. Olympic team.
