FAIRFAX, Va. - A pair of George Mason rowers picked up Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) honors on Tuesday when the 2012 National Scholar-Athletes and All-Region selections were announced. Juniors Meredith Bennett and Madison Beumer were selected as Scholar-Athletes for the second consecutive year, while Bennett added CRCA Division I All-Region Second Team honors.

The Mason pair repeated as CRCA National Scholar-Athletes after maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher. Mason was one of five Colonial Athletic Association member institutions to appear on the list as Buffalo, Boston, Delaware and Northeastern placed rowers on the list.

To be eligible for scholar-athlete status, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically, compete in a minimum of 75 percent of the current spring races or race in a regional event and hold a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or greater for her career. Additionally, the CRCA also announced its Division I all-region award winners. Bennett represented Mason and the CAA, along with Delaware's Rachael Conway on the Mid-Atlantic All-Region Second Team - this is Bennett's first such honor. Cheryl Copson of Boston and Greta Haselmann of Northeastern picked up First Team New England All-Region honors, while Northeastern's Kelsey Flynn and Boston's Erin Roche were named to the Second Team.
