PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The varsity eight advanced to the repechage with a third-place finish in the preliminary heat as the George Mason rowing team concluded its 2012 season Friday on the Schuylkill River at the Dad Vail Regatta.

Competition for the Patriots kicked off with the varsity four as Mason collected a fourth-place finish with a time of 08:13.205. Drexel took the heat in 07:48.925. Buffalo came in third (07:52.421) and Army finished third (08:04.886). Schenectady completed the heat in fifth (09:04.230).

The preliminary heats for the women's varsity eight went next as Mason just missed the automatic advancement into the semifinals as the top two teams earned the automatic berth. With a third-place finish, the Patriots sealed a spot in the repechage later in the afternoon. Old Dominion and Sacramento took the top two finishes with Mason crossing in 06:53.410.

The novice four took home a fourth-place finish (08:23.944) in their heat before the varsity eight hit the water again, this time crossing in fourth with a time of 07:09.541.

The novice eight and second varsity eight rounded out competition for Mason with fourth and fifth place finishes, respectively. The novice eight crossed in 07:36.622, while the second varsity eight took fifth with a time of 07:24.061.
