WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Everett Hackett recorded a school-record
in the 5000m run and the men's team posted four IC4A qualifying marks as the
George Mason track and field team competed at the W&M Tribe Open over the
weekend in Williamsburg.
Hackett placed ninth in the 5000m en route to crossing the
finish line in a school-record time of 14:03.16. The time also qualified him
for the IC4A championship meet.
The three additional IC4A qualifying times came in the 10000m,
as Phillip Blankenship (30:35.23, 6th), Andrew Pitts (30:40.95, 7th)
and John Holt (31:05.44, 10th) all qualified in the event.
On the women's side, Mandissa Marshall continued her strong
start to the outdoor season, winning the pole vault with a height of 4.05m.
Amanda Denger also had a good showing in the javelin, finishing ninth with a
distance of 38.63m.
The women also had two eighth-place relays, as the 4x800
team of Monique McKenzie, Nao Ma, Heather Selheimer and Peyton Lowe recorded a
time of 9:17.28, and the 4x1500 squad of Heather Selheimer, Nao Ma, Peyton Lowe
and Monique McKenzie crossed the finish line in 19:20.83.
The Patriots return to action next weekend, hosting the
Mason Invitational on Saturday.
