George Mason Athletics Women's Lacrosse 4/7/2012 9:00:00 AM
In the final installment of "Off the Field" leading up to Senior Day on April 8 at 12 p.m., GoMason.com highlights Kara Bowman. Bowman, a native of Arnold, Md., has become a paramount leader on the team in her four years donning the Green and Gold.

What is your funniest memory with the team that you can share?
There are definitely a lot of memories that come to mind, a lot of them involving Joy on a food high.  But one that sticks out that, that was also slightly embarrassing, was our last day of offseason last year.  We did an obstacle course relay race for conditioning. After what seemed like a mile of an army crawl, we were supposed to sprint to the end line. Except as soon as I got up, I took two steps and in slow motion, and somewhat unathletically, fell right back down to the ground. My legs wouldn't let me get back up.  I looked to my right to see where Amy, who I was going against, was and saw that she had done the exact same thing. We were all laughing so hard I couldn't move. It ended up being a race to see who could crawl/roll to the finish line the fastest (I won).

What will you miss most about Mason Lacrosse?
I'll definitely miss my teammates. I'll miss seeing them on a daily basis and competing with them. Our team has been through a lot on and off the field. I think those experiences have really enabled me to grow as an individual, and I wouldn't trade them for the world.

Do you hope to participate in the lacrosse world in some capacity after graduation (coaching, playing, etc.)?
After I graduate, I'll be coaching in England for a year through the English Lacrosse Association. I'm extremely excited to have the opportunity to stay connected with the sport of lacrosse while also having the ability to explore Europe.

What is your major and what are your plans after graduation?
I'm a History Major with a Minor in Communication and Philosophy. After I go to England I plan on attending law school.

What will you miss about being a student-athlete in general?
I'll miss the feeling of accomplishment that comes along with being a Division I student-athlete. And the free printing at study hall.

What will you miss the most about Mason itself?
I'm absolutely going to miss all of the people at Mason who made my time here truly amazing.
