Ellisen, Jauschnegg Earn All-CAA Second Team Honors

TOWSON, Md. - A pair of George Mason lacrosse seniors were recognized by the Colonial Athletic Association at the awards banquet held Thursday evening prior to the start of the CAA Women's Lacrosse Championship. Senior attacker Emily Ellisen and senior defender Kiersten Jauschnegg were named to the All-CAA Second Team. The voting was conducted by the league's head coaches.

Ellisen, a team captain, led the Patriots all season offensively, finishing the regular season ranked second in the league in goals per game (2.38). In 16 starts, the Paoli, Pa. native recorded 49 points on 38 goals and 11 assists. Ellisen, a CAA Player of the Week selection this season, set a new single-season record at George Mason with a team-high 58 draw controls and became the program's all-time leader in career draw controls with 118 in four seasons.

Also starting all 16 contests, Jauschnegg racked up a team-best 27 caused turnovers to go along with 24 ground balls and four draw controls. At Liberty, the Gambrills, Md. native forced a career-high six turnovers. She recorded five against George Washington and opened the season with four against Saint Francis.

This marks the second conference nod for Ellisen as the senior was named to the All-Rookie team in 2009. In the same season, Madalyn Jamison and Chelsea Gamble earned second team honors, marking the last time a Patriot earned All-CAA recognition.

James Madison's junior attacker Casey Ancarrow was named the conference's Player of the Year, while teammate Cally Chakrian earned Defensive Player of the Year honors. Delaware's Caitlin McCartney was tabbed the 2012 Rookie of the Year and Sonia LaMonica of Towson received her second straight CAA Coach of the Year award after guiding the Tigers to a 13-3 overall record and 7-0 league mark in her second season.
