RICHMOND, Va. - George Mason junior track and field athlete
David Verburg was named the CAA Male Track Athlete of the Week as announced by
the conference office on Tuesday.
Verburg was joined by UNCW's Aerial Chatman, who was tabbed
as the CAA Male Field Athlete of the Week.
Verburg shone at the
Michael Johnson Dr. Pepper Classic hosted by Baylor University over the
weekend, winning both the 200m and 400m events while helping the 4x400 relay to
a second-place finish. His time of 45.56 in the 400m was a personal-best and is
currently the third best time in the nation and resides as the fourth best time
on the all-time Mason track record list. Verburg ran a time of 21.00 en route
to winning the 200m afternoon session.
The Patriots return
to action on Thursday, traveling to the Penn Relays.
