Norfolk, Va.--The George Mason women's tennis team's season came to an end on Thursday, as they fell to the No. 6 seed JMU in the first round of the CAA championships by a score of 4-0.
It was the second time in less than a week that the Patriots fell to the Dukes. This marks the end of the career of one of the most consistent players in program history, Brooke Blackwell. Blackwell will finish with 66 career singles victories.
The Dukes took an early 1-0 advantage by securing the doubles point as the combinations of Ashley Delaney and Blackwell along with freshmen Liza Davis and Sara Novakovic each fell 8-1 in their respective matches.
In singles action, the latter half of the Dukes' lineup finished off the victory as Tori Zalewski, Kate Desiatnikova, and Andrea Londen all fell at the No. 4, 5, and 6 positions respectively.
With the loss, the Patriots finish the year 13-12 overall, but will have a lot of young talent returning to the lineup next year.
