NORFOLK, Va. (April 19, 2012)-- George
Mason junior Jordan Dyke (Alexandria,
Va) was selected to the All-CAA third team by a committee of the
league's head coaches.
Dyke compiled a 12-7 singles record
this spring as the Patriot's top player. In six of the seven setbacks the match went to the tiebreaker set. The junior played one season at VCU, after
he sat out his freshman year with a medical redshirt, before transferring to
Mason. In doubles action, Dyke and teammate Jimmy Davis recorded an 11-7
mark at the top doubles position. Dyke teamed up with Chris Borden in four
doubles matches, winning two to finish with an overall 13-9 mark in doubles
action.
The last Patriots men's tennis player to receive All-CAA honors
was Brian Fitzgerald, who earned All-CAA third team in singles
and was named to the All-CAA third-team in doubles paired with Daniel
Schneider in 2009.
The awards were presented Thursday
night prior to the quarterfinals of the 2012 Virginia 529 CAA Men's Tennis
Championship, which resumes Friday morning at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center
on the campus of Old Dominion University. The tournament runs through Sunday,
with the men's championship set for 10 a.m. on April 22.
