Raleigh, N.C. -The Patriots golf team finished the final round of the Wolfpack Spring Open on the par-72, 7,358-yard
Lonnie Poole Golf Course. Mason was tied for 13th overall going into today, but shot a 320 to drop to 17th.
Freshman Zack Lauzon was the most consistent Mason golfer and led the team with a pair of 78s on the weekend. Alec Kormanec followed after carding a 79 and 80 in the two rounds. Kevin Yerks led the Patriots after shooting a 77 in the first round but shot a 82 today to finish with a two-round score of 159.
The NC State men's golf team defended its home turf and won the event. The Wolfpack started the day tied for second with East Carolina and
two-shots behind first-round leader Lamar, but erupted for a
tournament-topping 5-under 283 final round to capture the victory.
The Wolfpack finished at 1-over 577 for the tournament, while Lamar
was second at 5-over 581, and East Carolina came in third at 9-over par.
Luke Jerling of Lamar birdied Nos. 15 and 16 to win
the individual title over Jay Mulieri of Loyola (Md.) by one stroke.
Jerling shot a final-round 4-under 68 to finish at 5-under 139.
The Patriots will be back in action at the CAA Championship at Wilmington Country Club in Wilmington, Del, starting on Friday, April 27, 2012.
