HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - The
Patriots dropped two games in a conference doubleheader to Hofstra on Saturday
by scores of 12-3 and 9-3, respectively.
In the first game, the Patriots were helped by a three run
homer to left field by freshman third baseman Brooke Blankenship in the top of
the 5th inning. Tori Dudley
also had a solid game for the Patriots, going two for three with a double, her
fifth of the year. However, Mason was
ultimately undone by a 10 run bottom of the fourth inning for the Pride in
which they had 10 hits.
In the second game, Mason hopped on the board first in the
top of the third after Dudley hit her sixth double of the season and eventually
scored when Blankenship hit an RBI single to third base. The Pride then responded with three runs off of
three hits in the bottom half of the third inning. Mason scored two more runs in the top of the
fourth inning when junior Samantha Barney reached base on an error by the
shortstop and Megan Blank followed with a double to the left centerfield gap. The next batter was first baseman Reagan Doiron hit a 2 RBI single in the up the middle to tie the game at three.
The Pride went on to score five runs off four hits in the
bottom half of the inning and add an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth
to put the game out of reach.
Hofstra and Mason will play again on Sunday for the third
game of their three game set. First pitch
