RICHMOND, Va. - George Mason track & field senior
Everett Hackett was named the CAA Track Athlete of the Week, as announced by
the conference office on Tuesday.
Joining Hackett as a honoree on the men's side was W&M junior field athlete Ben Katz. UNCW senior Jordan Dawalt was tabbed as the female field
athlete and W&M sophomore Elaina Balouris earned women's track athlete of
the week accolades.
At the W&M Colonial Relays over the weekend, Hackett won
the 5000m run while shattering the previous Mason school record with a time of
14:03.16. The previous school record, 14:04.86, had stood since 1986.
Hackett also had a strong showing in the 10000m run earlier
this season, finishing in 29:43.17 at the W&M Tribe Open, the second-best time in school history.
The Patriots return to action on Saturday, hosting the Mason
Spring Invitational.
