BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Three Mason wrestlers saw their hard work
over the course of the season pay off on Saturday by placing at the CAA Championships in Binghamton, New York.
Senior Mendbagana Tovuujav won the CAA Championship
tournament in the 197 pound weight class, freshman Vincent Rodriguez took
second place at 125 pounds en route to earning an NCAA Championship consideration bid and
redshirt senior co-captain Denny Herndon III finished third overall at 141
pounds, also earning a consideration bid for Nationals.
Mason finished sixth overall in tournament, acquiring 30.5
overall team points. Hofstra came away
with the overall team victory 80.5 points.
Tovuujav hopes to be joined by teammates Rodriguez and Herndon when competiting in Nationals on March 15th - 17th. Rodriguez and Herndon will find out if they have earned an at large bid for the tournament later in the week. Make sure to follow
