RALEIGH, N.C. - The George Mason track and field team recorded nine IC4A/ECAC qualifying marks at the Raleigh Relays, hosted by N.C. State, over the weekend.
The men's team received four individual and two relay IC4A qualifiers, while the women had two individual and one relay post an ECAC qualifying time.
For the men, senior Rachaunn Ruffin posted a qualifying time of 10.57 in the prelims of the 100m dash before finishing second in the finals with a time of 10.67. Senior Nick Vaughn placed fifth in the 200m dash with a time of 21.73. Freshman Anthony Williams finished second in his heat of the 110m hurdles with a qualifying time of 14.44, eventually finishing 10th in the finals with a time of 14.61, while senior Ja-Vell Bullard was the other individual qualifier, crossing the line in the 400m dash in a time of 47.59.
The men had two teams compete in the 4x100m relay, with both squads posting IC4A qualifying marks. The team of junior John Jones, Nick Vaughn, junior Travaughn Baker-Johnson and senior Dwight Webley finished second in the event with a time of 40.99, while senior Lavell Handy, sophomore Adrian Vaughn, Bullard and Ruffin placed fifth in a time of 41.15.
For the women, senior Cierra McGee finished in third place in the 200m dash with an ECAC mark of 24.00, while Crystalyne Clark recorded an ECAC qualifying time of 12.04 in the preliminaries of the 100m dash. The 4x400 relay of McGee, Kristin Bethel, Aneesha Scott and Dominique Graham also qualified, finishing sixth in the event with a time of 3:45.68.
The Patriots return to action next week, traveling to compete at both the University of Florida Relays and the Colonial Relays on the campus of William and Mary.
