Mason
men's tennis dropped two matches today at Springfest in Hilton Head, SC. The
Patriots lost 5-1 to South
Carolina State
in the morning match. In the evening the team fell 6-1 to Southern
Illinois, a match that was originally started on Monday but because
of rain was postponed.
Against
South Carolina State, Mason's lone point came at No. 2
singles. Jimmy Davis defeated Kovaleuych in three sets, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4. Mason's
top singles player Jordan Dyke battled but lost a three-set match.
In
the match against the Salukis, Mason's Taylor Sargent recorded the Patriots
only point at No. 4 singles. The match could of tilted either way but Southern Illionois pulled out all three matches that went
to the third tie-breaker set. All three doubles matches were closely contested
with Mason dropping all three. Both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles were lost by 9-7
margins.
