RICHMOND, Va. - George Mason
senior third baseman Brig Tison was named the CAA baseball Player of the Week
as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
Tison was joined by Delaware's senior
pitcher Eric Young and freshman outfielder Tyler Powell as weekly award
recipients. Young was tabbed as the pitcher of the week, while Powell collected
rookie of the week honors.
Tison started
all four games at third base for the Patriots during the Baseball at the Beach
Tournament in Myrtle Beach, S.C., helping Mason to a 3-1 record. The Patriots
started the tournament with an 8-5 loss to N.C. State but rallied with
consecutive wins over Iowa (12-3), Virginia Tech (7-1) and West Virginia (1-0).
Tison went
9-for-18 (.500) at the plate with five RBI's and four runs scored, in addition
to three stolen bases. Defensively he had two putouts, eight assists and one
error.
Tison
currently leads the Patriots in batting average (.448), on base percentage
(.500), runs scored (6), hits (13), doubles (2), walks (3) and stolen bases
(4).
The Patriots
return to action tomorrow, hosting Coppin State at 2:30 pm.
