George Mason's men's golf team opened up the 2012 spring season at the Seahawk Invitational at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C. today. After the first two rounds Mason stands in ninth place overall. Going into the third and final round tomorrow the Patriots are three strokes behind VCU and six behind ODU.

Casey Thompson led the Patriots with a two-round (76-74=150) and is tied for 23^rd overall on the par 72 course. Senior Josh Apple carded a (75-79=154) to stand tied for 38^th overall. The Patriots Kevin Yerks and Zack Lawson each carded two-round 156 and are tied for 43^rd.

The Patriots will begin their tee times at 9:45 am on Monday.
