Swimming and Diving Splits Weekend Meets

Wolter, Witherow and Danner Carry Swimming and Diving on Day Three of CAA Championships

FAIRFAX, Va. - After three days of competition in the CAA Championships, Mason's men's team is solidly in second place with a team score of 408, while the women have slipped to seventh overall with a team score of 190.

The men were led on Saturday by a pair of standout seniors, Preston Wolter, who won the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 3:52.45 and Austin Witherow, who won the 100-yard backstroke with a finals time of 48.97.

Despite dropping one spot in the rankings since Thursday, the women continued to be led by the outstanding performances of star senior Ashley Danner.  Danner won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.82.

The Patriots will continue to host the CAA Championships on Saturday for the final day of competition.  The preliminary round is scheduled to begin at 10am, with the finals beginning at 6pm.  Following the finals, there will be an award ceremony for the top performers on the weekend and overall throughout the year.  For all information on the CAA Championships, make sure to visit the 2012 CAA Championship Central page.
