In the middle of its season-opening six-game homestand, the George Mason lacrosse team plays its third game of the season welcoming UMBC to Fairfax for a 1 p.m. contest on Saturday. The Retrievers took the decision last season in Fairfax over the Patriots to mark their fourth straight win over Mason.
Mason is coming off a tough defeat against Johns Hopkins as Rachel Obregon paced the Patriots with three goals, while Mary Schwartz added two. Kiersten Jauschnegg recorded three caused turnovers and Caitlin Formato won four draw controls.
UMBC opened its season falling to No. 4 Florida. Senior Emily Coady led the Retrievers with three goals. UMBC posted an 11-7 overall record last season and a 4-2 mark in the America East, advancing to the championship match of the tournament.
