The Patriots will host the 17th ranked Maryland
Terrapins for a dual match on tomorrow night in the RAC. Mason is coming off an impressive 35-9
victory over Millersville University and will return home on Thursday for Senior
Night and their final home match of the season.
The Patriots will honor five seniors on Thursday night, 133-pounder
Brian Benton, heavyweight Hunter Manspile, 197-pounder Mendbagana Tovuujav, 141
pounder Denny Herndon III and 174-pounder Frankie McLaughlin IV. "There's nothing easy about college
wrestling," said Head Coach Joe Russell. "To
see a guy wrestle for four years in college is extremely impressive. I am sure that these guys will all go on to
do great things."
On the mat, Mason will face a tough task with the national ranked
Terrapins. Maryland has five wrestlers
in their projected starting lineup ranked nationally, including three wrestlers
in the top 10. With a home dual against the
Terps on Thursday and an away dual against University of Virginia on Sunday,
Mason will definitely be tested before the start of the CAA tournament on
Saturday, March 3rd.
The match begins at 7:30pm on Thursday night with Senior
Night festivities taking place during the intermission. The duals will also be streamed live on
Patriot Vision with play-by-play and color commentary.
