The Mason men's tennis team played in back-to-back-to-back matches this weekend and swept all three matches convincingly. On Sunday at Mary Washington, the Patriots defeated the Eagles 6-1.
Mason won two of the three doubles matches for the point. The team of Jordan Dyke and Jimmy Davis defeated the Eagles team of Charles/Rizzolo, 8-6 capping off a 3-0 weekend for the No. 1 doubles team.
In singles, the Patriots won matches No. 2-6. Davis finished a perfect 3-0 from the No. 2 position this weekend as well as Taylor Sargent for the Patriots. Joseph Wiggins and Scott Keaton got their first starts of the season and both were victorious in hard-fought matches. Keaton, playing at No. 4 singles, defeated Will Apperson, 6-1, 7-6(9) and Wiggins from No. 5 singles bounced back after losing the first set 5-7, to take the next two and the match, 6-1, 6-3.
The Patriots next match is Saturday, February 18 against Morgan State at Montclair Country Club.
