FAIRFAX,
Va. - Head coach Joe Verbanic of the George Mason softball
team announced a 54-game schedule for the 2013 season, which features 12
Colonial Athletic Association games at home and nine on the road.
Mason will begin its season on February 8-10 in the
Carolina's for the Charleston Southern Tournament and USC Upstate Tournament
Feb. 15-17, where they will face off against Charleston Southern, UNC Greensboro,
Winthrop, USC Upstate, Bowling Green and George Washington.
In March, the Patriots will host nine other
universities for the Patriot Classic, Mason Invitational (Mar. 8-10) and the Cherry
Blossom Classic (Mar. 15-17) tournaments. The Patriot Classic three-day
tournament on March 1-3 will also mark Mason's first home games of the season.
Mason will open Colonial Athletic Association play
on March 23-24 when they travel to Atlanta to take on the Georgia State
Panthers for three games. The next weekend the Patriots will open conference
play at home with UNCW.
The remainder of the Patriots schedule is packed
with CAA games until the conference tournament where the top four teams at the
end of the regular season will compete. The tournament will be hosted by the
highest seed in the conference on May 8-10.
