FAIRFAX, Va. - This week's rookie profile features Ryan Forrest, a native of Reston, Va. Forrest was a four-year letterwinner in wrestling and baseball and a two-year letterwinner in football at South Lakes High School. In wrestling, Forrest was a four-time district champion, region and state runner-up in 2012 and was a two-time honorable mention All-Met honoree, as well as an Academic All-American.

GoMason.com: Why did you choose George Mason University?

Forrest: So I could wrestle at the Division I level.

GoMason.com: How did you get into wrestling?

Forrest: My dad wrestled in high school and my brother and I were wrestling in the house anyways, so he took us out so we wouldn't break anything.

GoMason.com: Did you always know you wanted to wrestle in college?

Forrest: I became interested in wrestling in college after my junior season.

GoMason.com: What is your favorite and least favorite thing about living on campus?

Forrest: My favorite part is being able to socialize with my friends easily. My least favorite part is not having my own room anymore.

GoMason.com: What do you think will be the biggest challenge in adjusting to wrestling at the college level?

Forrest: It is a challenge to wake up early four times a week, but I can keep up with the physical and time demands.

GoMason.com: What is your favorite thing about Mason, so far?

Forrest: I like the wide array of people.

GoMason.com: What has been the biggest difference, so far, between high school and college?

Forrest: The amount of free time and freedom.

GoMason.com: If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three things would you take with you?

Forrest: I would take Vaseline, a Psychology book and a sleeping bag.

GoMason.com: What is your biggest pet peeve?

Forrest: Cramps while running

GoMason.com: What do you want to do after college?

Forrest: Open up a total sports performance training facility focusing on all aspects of performance from exercise to diet and psychology.

GoMason.com: If you could visit any place in the world, where would you go?

Forrest: I would visit Brazil.

GoMason.com: What is something that most people don't know about you?

Forrest: I'm an Eagle Scout.
