POWELLS POINT, NC--The Patriots golf team carded a team 291, eight stroke better than their first round total, but dropped from fifth to seventh place in the standings after the second of three rounds at the ODU/OBX Collegiate.
Mason's Christian Bech shot a two-under 70 to best his first round even-par 72 and move into sixth place overall. Casey Thompson is tied for 11th place after carding a one-over par 73 and a two-round 145 score. Freshman Mark Folkwein also carded a 73 today after a first-round 80. Kevin Yerks bested his first-round 76 by one stroke today.
Georgia Southern leads the event by five
strokes with a two-day score of 577. This is the third year at
Kilmarlic and 33rd overall year on the Outerbanks of North Carolina.
Individually, Weston Eklund of Radford is tied for the lead with Georgia
Southern's Scott Wolfes at 137 for 36 holes and seven under par.
Eklund shot 64 today which is one shot shy of the course record.
Yesterday, Wolfes shot a 66.
Radford shot a blistering 283 today to move from fifth place on
Sunday to second at 582, five strokes behind Georgia Southern. The
Eagles shot 287 followed by ODU at 288 today.
