FAIRFAX,
Va. - Alex Ott of the George Mason men's cross country team
recently sat down with GoMason.com to go over his season expectations and
answer a few questions. Ott is a native of Weyers Cave, Va. and a graduate of Turner
Ashby High School. He was the 2009 CAA Cross Country Co-Rookie of the year.
This past weekend in his first race of the season, Ott was first to cross the
line for Mason at the Mason Invitational and was fourth overall. Ott is also a
member of the track and field team at George Mason.
GoMason.com:
Why
did you choose George Mason University?
Ott:
I
choose Mason mainly because of the team atmosphere and that it had a relatively
young cross country program. After visiting Mason, I decided I wanted to be
part of a cross country/track program that was developing so I could see it
grow.
GoMason.com:
What
are your goals for this season?
Ott:
I
would like to be competitive at the regional level and help the team capture a
CAA title.
GoMason.com:
Who
would you say you look up to the most?
Ott:
My
mom.
GoMason.com:
What
does your typical off-season training consist of?
Ott:
During
the off season I try to stay active by swimming, biking and running.
GoMason.com:
You
run both cross country and track and field, do you have a preference between
the two?
Ott:
I've
always liked cross country because it is something different and the race
atmosphere is fun.
GoMason.com:
If
you were stranded on a deserted island, what three things would you take with
you?
Ott:
I
would take a speed boat, fuel, and food.
GoMason.com:
What
do you want to do after college?
Ott:
I
would like to get a job with the FBI.
GoMason.com:
If
you could visit any place in the world, where would you go?
Ott:
I
would visit Hawaii.
