BOONE, N.C.- Senior
Robert Reynolds won his first race of the season
Friday, taking first at the Blue Ridge Open as the George Mason men's cross
country team finished second overall. Held in Boone, N.C., Wake Forest took the
title, finishing first overall.
Posting one of the top-15 times ever raced on the Don Kennedy Trails course,
Reynolds won the race with a time of 24:31.07. He was followed by teammate
Everett Hackett who finished with a time of 24:41.46 to capture a third-place
showing. Also finishing in the top-10 for Mason was Alex Ott at 24:50.36.
"The guys did a tremendous job today - I was extremely pleased. We executed
our race plan very well and the results reflected it," reflected head coach
Andrew Gerard. "Robert, Everett and Alex ran very well. Throughout our top-5 we
only had a 42 second spread, so that's something we hope to carry over into the
conference race."
The Patriots will return to the course two weeks from now for the CAA
Championships on Oct. 27th.
