FAIRFAX,
Va. - The George Mason swimming and diving team will host its
first home meet of the season this Saturday, October 13
th, against
Delaware. The Patriots and Blue Hens will square off in a Colonial Athletic
Association (CAA) meet at 1 p.m. in the Jim McKay Natatorium. This weekend is
the first conference meet of the season for both schools.
This past weekend, Mason spilt its meet against
Loyola and Navy. The men and women defeated Loyola 213-87 and 155-134,
respectively, while the women fell to Navy, 96-192, and the men ultimately fell
134-155. Delaware's teams are coming off dominating victories against
Georgetown in their first meet of the season.
"This weekend
is a big weekend for us. It's our home opener and we're up against a very
strong conference opponent," commented Head Coach Peter Ward.
Last year the men defeated Delaware 118-115, and in
an extremely close meet the women fell just two points to Delaware for a final
score of 143-145.
"Our meets with Delaware have traditionally been
very close for both the men's and women's teams," stated Ward. "This meet has
come down to the last races several times in the last five years. It should be
a great competition."
