FAIRFAX, Va. - The George Mason wrestling Rookie Profile this week features David Chenevey. Chenevey is a native of Centreville, Va. and attended Centreville High School, where he was a member of the varsity wrestling and football team for three years. In wrestling, he was a three-time all-district and all-region recipient. In his senior year, he received all-state honors.

GoMason.com: Why did you choose Mason?

Chenevey: I wanted to wrestle in college and Coach Russell gave me that chance. Also it's a great school and only 25 minutes away from home.

GoMason.com: How did you get into wrestling?

Chenevey: Freshman year of high school my father encouraged me to wrestle.

GoMason.com: Did you always know you wanted to wrestle in college?

Chenevey: By my senior year I realized that I was pretty good and I wanted to continue my wrestling career.

GoMason.com: What will be the biggest challenge in transitioning to collegiate wrestling?

Chenevey: College wrestling is a whole new level of competition and hard work.

GoMason.com: What is your favorite thing about Mason, so far?

Chenevey: I love that GMU is a spirited school and that for the most part everyone gets along well.

GoMason.com: What is your biggest pet peeve?

Chenevey:  I can't stand terrible drivers.

GoMason.com: What do you want to do after college?

Chenevey: I want to be involved in a job pertaining to GIS (Geographic Information Systems), for either the government or a business.

GoMason.com: If you could visit any place in the world, where would you go?

Chenevey: I love going to Greece but I want to go to Russia, especially Chernobyl.

GoMason.com: What is something that most people don't know about you?

Chenevey: I am a great artist.
