The George Mason Men's Tennis team hit the hard courts for the first time this fall at the Mary Washington Fall Kick-Off Tournament in Fredericksburg, Va this past weekend. Mason joined teams from Longwood, Washington and Lee and host Mary Washington in a round robin format.
The Patriots fared well, including Scott Keaton, Steve Hyre, and Nick Barker who each went undefeated in singles action, beginning the season with a 3-0 record, and leading Mason to their best showing in the annual tournament. Kevin McMillen split his first two matches before finishing with a 2-1 singles record.
In doubles action, Mason's team of Chris Borden and Taylor Sargent led the Patriots, winning all three matches. Scott Keaton teamed with Jimmy Davis to post a 2-1 record in doubles.
The tennis team is in action again Sept. 24-25 in the Mason Invitational at the Mason Tennis Facility.
