The George Mason men's golf team finished in 11th place among 18 teams at The McLaughlin, held at the Bethpage Red Course (Farmingdale, N.Y.) Friday and Saturday. Mason went into the third and final round in sixth place, but carded a 296 third round score, 12 strokes off their second round 284, to drop five spots.

The Patriots were led today by Kevin Yerks, who finished tied for 26th overall, with a three-round 215 (76-70-69) on the par-70, 6,734 yard course. Casey Thompson was just one stroke behind Yerks and finished tied for 28th. Senior Josh Apple scored a one-under par 69 in the first round, but followed with a 76 and 75 in the final two rounds. Alexander Kormanec and Bryan Giles each scored a 223 for Mason to round out the scoring.

The Patriots have a few weeks off before hitting the links at the Big 5 Invitational in Plymouth Meeting, Pa. on October 8-9.
