The George Mason men's golf team is currently in 6th place after two rounds played today at the McLaughlin, held at the Bethpage Red Course (Farmingdale, N.Y.). The tournament is held at the historic Bethpage State Park, which hosted the 2002 and 2009 U.S. Open tournaments on the Black Course.
The Patriots were led today by Casey Thompson, who carded a one-over par 141 in the first two rounds on the par-70, 6,734 yard course, and is currently tied for 19th overll. Senior Josh Apple scored a one-under par 69 in the first round, but a 76 in the afternoon today bumped him to a tie for 39th overall. Alexander Kormanec, Kevin Yerks and Bryan Giles each scored a 146 for Mason and are tied for 46th overall.
The 18-team tournament final round will be played tomorrow morning, with tee times beginning at 7:40 a.m. with the leaders teeing off last.
