Navy Fall Classic Results

The Mason golf team completed their first tournament of the fall season with a seventh place finish at the Navy Fall Classic in Annapolis, Md. this weekend. The Patriots went into the second round in fourth place but carded a team 303, 10 shots more than the first round to drop three places in the 12-team event.

Csaey Thompson led Mason after shooting even par for two rounds, three-under 68 and a three-over par 74 to finish tied for fifth place overall. Alec Kormanec carded a 75 and 74 respectively to finish tied for 26th overall.  Senior Josh Apple (72-80=152) and Wesley Liu (78-75=153) rounded out the scoring for Mason.

Delaware (570, +2) shot the day's low score of par (284) to force the first playoff in the 18-year history of the Navy Fall Classic.  Delaware  (570, +2) and Lafayette, who held a 3-stroke advantage heading into the final round, entered into a 10-man sudden death playoff with the best four out of five scores counting.  At the end of the hole, Delaware was declared the winner by virtue of four par scores with Lafayette finishing as the runner-up.

Mason will next compete at the McLaughlin in Farmingdale, NY this Friday and Saturday.
