Q&A with LaVell Handy

Handy Named Second-Team All-America

Lavell Handy was named Second-Team All-America on Monday afternoon as honors were handed out based on performances at last week's NCAA Track & Field Championships held in Des Moines, Iowa.

Handy was 12th in the triple jump with a leap of 15.71 meters. The junior from Hampton, Va. picked up his first-ever All-America honors.

Being named honorable mention All-America were Mandissa Marshall in the pole vault (19th overall), David Verburg in the 400 meters (18th overall), the 4X100-meter relay team of Ja-Vell Bullard, Rachaunn Ruffin, Adrian Vaughn and Nick Vaughn (20th overall) and the 4X400-meter relay team of Ja-Vell Bullard, George Empty, Nick Vaughn and David Verburg (17th overall).
