Fairfax, Va. -
The George Mason
softball team hosts the Hofstra Pride in a weekend conference series Saturday
and Sunday. There will be a doubleheader
on Saturday, April 9 and a single game on Sunday. The first game is scheduled to begin at 12:00
p.m. on both days. The games will be
played at the George Mason Softball Complex and live audio will be available
for all games.
The
Patriots are coming off a split on Wednesday against Howard. They won their
first game 6-2 ending a five game losing streak, but lost the next game
5-8. The eight runs were the most given
up by Mason since the first game of the season when they lost 1-9 to USC
Upstate. The offensive output was a good sign as Mason has not scored
more than three runs since a 6-0 win over Albany on March 18. Mason's record currently sits at 11-17 overall
and 1-5 in the CAA
Hofstra comes in with a 23-8 overall record
and a 6-0 in the CAA. They have won
their last 14 games and are currently first in the conference. Mason is tied for sixth place but is just two
games out of a playoff spot.
Hofstra
leads the CAA in team pitching and is second in team batting, behind James
Madison. Mason is fourth in pitching and
last in batting.
After
this series with Hofstra the Patriots will host George Washington on Wednesday,
April 13. It is a nonconference game
scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
