The George Mason women's tennis team visited Loyola Wednesday and the Patriots defeated the Greyhounds 5-2.
Mason won two of the three doubles matches to earn the first point. Junior

, coming off an injury from the past two matches, won her match 6-2, 6-1 to extend the lead to 2-0. The Patriots quickly went up 3-0 when
Alison Wingo
defeated Sabrina Fedele. However, Loyola closed the gap to 3-2 when seniors
Lindsay Gray
and Stephanie Longuiera lost their matches.
With the match on the line, freshman
Kate Desiatnikova
was persistent and kept plugging away to secure the win for Mason with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Judy Lite, her biggest thus far in her Mason career. Freshman
Ashley Delaney
continues her phenomenal rookie campaign, as she prevailed in her match with a 0-6, 6-4, 6-2 win over Scarlett Hoy to make the final score 5-2.
Mason improves to 17-11 on the year. Both the men's & women's teams are home on Thursday as they host Morgan State. The men are scheduled to start at 1:30 with the women to follow starting about 3 pm.
